Arctic Foxes have different eating habits because of their frigid home. Since Arctic Foxes are omnivores, (That means they eat both meat and vegetation) they dig under the layers of snow to try and find vegetation when the food is scarce. To try and prevent this from happening the Arctic Fox will prepare for winter by finding plants and berries to hide in their burrow. If food is plentiful the Arctic Fox will save and store leftover food for when there is none.
On the other hand, the Arctic Foxes are also meat eaters. Their main food is lemmings, but if no lemmings are found, the Arctic Fox is also a scavenger. If a polar bear catches a seal and eats his fill the Arctic Fox come and attempt to to steal some leftovers from the polar bear. The Arctic Fox also hunts voles and birds. If the Arctic Fox finds a birds’ nest with eggs in it they will eat the eggs as well. The Arctic Fox will also eat carrion (dead animal carcasses). The Arctic Fox eats many different foods to survive in its freezing home.
